About the Artist

Hi! I am Sydney and I am the artist behind Of Hand and Light. I am an artist who is inspired by the moments that almost go unnoticed that teach me how to live in the now.

MY VISION →
A young girl with butterfly face paint on her forehead and cheek, wearing a purple top, photographed outdoors on a paved surface with blurred people in the background.

THE ORIGIN STORY

My earliest memory I have of creating art would be when I was ity bity. My mom would tell you that she was just happy that I was given washable markers on this day, as I hid behind the couches in the dining room area of my childhood home. I got up to some of my best work in mischief and proceeded to create a child's masterpiece of colors and marks all over the white carpet :) and even to this day I still continue to make huge messes of art related interests so I guess I never really grew out of it (sorry mom and dad! LOVE YOU GUYS!) :)

    ...allowing all the sunshine in

  • a close up photo of a record on a record player

...listening to a song I am obssessed with at the time at least 4-5 times in a row

  • a photograph of an artist hands working with a cup of coffee in hand in a close up view.

...having some sort of fun drink or a good ole pop

  • Two dogs, one black and one white with a blue collar, looking through a glass door or window. A person's legs and shorts are visible on the right side.

...getting distracted by my dogs that like to hang out with me while I work

  • I explore. I experiment. Each one teaches me something different and you will see them all.

A NEW CHAPTER IN THE MAKING...

Currently I create my art in a shared space in the guest room of my parents house- big thanks to them for all that they do!

But soon we will be building a new work studio in a shed in the backyard. Its a slow labor of love and I can't wait to fill it with light, art and everything that inspires me.

I'll be sharing the journey along the way :)
